Gov Oborevwori’s foreign trips ‘ll yield positive results, upscale Delta economic growth – Bureau DG
The Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has assured that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s foreign trips would yield positive results in strategic sectors of the state economy, especially in agriculture, CNG powered buses for transportation, and waste to wealth economic remodelling.
He gave the assurance on Saturday while reacting to comments by a social media influencer, alleging that the governor’s foreign trips are yet to attract sufficient foreign investments to Delta State.
Dr Oghenesivbe noted that Governor Oborevwori’s administration has been a game changer, delivering on his electioneering promises to the people, and that the governor will remain focused on his deliberate efforts to attract direct foreign investments to the state.
He explained that after foreign investment trips by the governor and other government officials, a reasonable time is required to perfect negotiations, immigration arrangements for expatriates, and necessary legal documentations; especially in the areas of factors of production, technology transfer where necessary, repatriation of profits on investment, tax holidays and other incentives between parties before physical presence of foreign investors to commence business in the state.
He further assured that government officials foreign investment trips are not, and will never be a jamboree at the detriment of public funds as alleged by a social media influencer, adding that governor Oborevwori is well known to be allergic to waste of public funds, and will never embark on fruitless foreign investment trips; not now, and not in the future
The Bureau Chief said the trailblazing legacy of the governor through pragmatic and visionary leadership would continue to upscale the socioeconomic and infrastructure development of the state, attract unprecedented economic growth and progress across the three senatorial districts.
He pointed out that Governor Oborevwori’s administration has prioritized infrastructure development, transforming the state’s roads, building mega bridges to enhance movement of goods and services, noting that the impact is evident in the improved rural-urban connectivity, enhanced economic activities, and increased access to social services.
“The governor’s diplomatic efforts through strategic foreign investment trips would sooner than later yield bountiful fruits, by attracting foreign investments from countries like China and Brazil.
“These partnerships will open up new opportunities for economic growth, technology transfer, job and wealth creation across the three senatorial districts in the state.
“The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Rural Electrification Agency in Abuja, marks a significant milestone in the state’s quest for improved electricity supply. This partnership will enhance access to reliable power, attract local and foreign investments, and ultimately drive economic growth and improve the living standards of our people.
“As we look towards the future, it’s evident that Governor Oborevwori’s reelection in 2027 is not just a possibility, but a necessity. His track record speaks for itself, and Deltans would be wise to continue supporting his administration.
“I urge all Deltans to join me in commending Governor Oborevwori for his outstanding leadership. Let us rally behind him and continue to support his vision for a better Delta State.
“Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and future generations. Let us make a collective pledge to stand by Governor Oborevwori’s administration till May 29, 2031, and beyond,” the statement added.
