Idris HK, the Chief Executive Officer of Crush Café Abuja, has clarified that his involvement in the Ajakagwu–Okete road rehabilitation is driven by community appeals and the late Sheikh Isah Okete’s call for its repair.

Despite a press release from Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District to halt his efforts, Idris has committed ₦3 million for survey work and intends to raise the full estimated cost of ₦84–90 million by selling two personal Abuja plots.

“I resolved to take up this project not out of politics, but out of love and duty to a community I cherish,” he said, adding that his efforts should not be mistaken for political ambition ahead of 2027.

Reacting to Senator Echocho’s claim that the project was already included in the 2025 constituency budget, Idris suggested that a collaborative approach would have been more ideal. He urged the Senator to consider deploying personal resources to commence the road work immediately, noting that “the wellbeing of the people cannot be postponed.”

While acknowledging the Senator as a respected leader and father figure, he appealed for calm among supporters and cautioned against turning the issue into a source of division. “Our real task is greater – building Igala unity and ensuring that no community is left behind in development,” he said.

Idris reaffirmed his commitment to community service, stressing that he had consistently funded local projects over the past three years without seeking political reward.

He prayed for the Federal Government to release funds promptly and urged stakeholders to honour Sheikh Isah Okete’s dying wish by ensuring the road project is completed without further delay.
