The Kogi Sate House of Assembly has successfully screened the reappointed Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Hon. Barr. Muhammed Musa Tanko, along with Permanent Commissioners.

The House leadership on Thursday, October 23, 2025 urged Muhammed Tanko to sustain the ongoing transformation within the commission.

Hon. Idrees Aliyu Maikudi Girinya representing Kogi/Koton-karfe State constituency, while rallying other members for support said Barr. Tanko should be supported for his outstanding public service leadership, marked by transparency, ethical conduct, and dedication to civil service reform and transformation and promoting efficiency in the civil service

Idrees Aliyu moved a motion to allow the nominee take a bow and leave, recognizing Tanko’s diligence and dedication to the State, especially in promoting good governance. The motion was seconded by lawmakers from Lokoja 1, Ajaokuta, Ogori Mangogo, Bassa, and others.

They noted that under Barr. Tanko’s leadership, the State Civil Service has consistently upheld fairness, professionalism, and merit-based reforms, with strong support from Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.

The House’s encouragement followed the Assembly leadership’s expression of confidence in Barr. Tanko’s ability to sustain progress and development within the commission.

The Assembly which was presided by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba congratulated the nominees and wished them success as they prepare to embark on their new leadership roles.

Barrister Tanko spoke extensively about his rich credentials and experience in recent years as a leader in the civil service.He stated that his primary objectives as Chairman of the State Civil Service include recruitment, appointment, and promotion in line with civil service rules.

Tanko who previously served as Chairman Nigerian Bar Association Lokoja Branch, Administrator of Kotonkarfe/Kogi Local Government Area, where make efforts to improve the well-being of his people

He has also served in other roles including Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, and he was Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association Lokoja Branch.

Tanko has won several awards inrecognition of his outstanding public service leadership by the Youth leadership, Media and students and corporate bodies amongst others

Barr. Tanko expressed appreciation to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for his support and several appointments done him, adding that he owned him a lot. He also thanked the incumbent Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for reappointing him, promising not to disappoint him.

The chairman acknowledged the people of Kogi Local Government for their unwavering support, which he said was his strength.

He described his reappointment as a positive relationship and mutual respect between him, the former Governor Bello, and the current Governor Ododo

Barr. Tanko was accompanied by his first wife, Hajia Halimat Tanko, family members, political associates, Kogi LG Chairman Hon. Musa Abdulmalik, former member, who represented Kogi/Koton-Karfe State Constituency Hon. Muhammed Tanko Okofi, APC Chairman Kogi LG Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Onah, councilors, ward party chairpersons and women leaders, civil service commission staff, and a delegation from the palace of Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe, among others
