Latest Update: Kogi Assembly Suspends Ibaji Council Chairman for Gross Misconduct as opposition lawmakers joins APC

The Kogi State House of Assembly has suspended Emmanuel Onuche Ugeh, the Chairman of Ibaji Local Government Area, over allegations of gross misconduct that are said to have tarnished the state’s image.

The suspension was announced during a house plenary on Wednesday, directing Onuche to hand over council affairs to the Vice Chairman, Victoria Okolo, pending the conclusion of investigations.
Global Times Nigeria reports that the Kogi State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, constituted a five-member committee led by Hon. Bode Ogunmola to investigate allegations against the Chairman of Ibaji Local Government Area, Emmanuel Onuche, who was suspended for gross misconduct.
The other committee members are Hon. Ishaya Omotayo Adeleye (Ijumu), Hon. Asema Baba Haruna (Adavi), Anthony Ujah (Olamaboro), and Hon. Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijani (Lokoja 1), with Muhammed Bello serving as the clerk.
The committee is expected to submit its report within one month.
In another development, three members of the Kogi State House of Assembly defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC): Hon. Bode Ogunmola (PDP – Ogori/Magongo), Hon. Idowu Ibikunle (ADC – Yagba East), and Hon. Sunday Daku (PDP – Bassa).
