Dr. Ibrahim Tanko Unveils NSG’s AI Initiative in Schools at Nsuk 5th seminar series

Nasarawa State Government has pledged to promote Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all tertiary institutions to boost productivity.
This commitment was highlighted by Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, at the 5th seminar series organized by the Faculty of Education, Nasarawa State University Keffi, held at PSGS auditorium, on Thursday.
The 5th seminar series of the Faculty of Education at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, focused on “Exploring the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing Quality and Innovative Research in Educational Management”, brought together PhD and Master’s students to discuss the potential of Artificial Intelligence in improving educational management.
The Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, stated that the seminar aligns with the Nasarawa State Government’s initiative to promote Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.
According to Dr. Tanko, the government aims to leverage AI’s potential to enhance educational quality and productivity and encouraged students to utilize AI tools effectively to improve their academic performance.
The Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keffi, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Linkages, Prof. K’tso Ngargbu, announced that the institution has already adopted Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool, yielding positive results in the academic system.

The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Christopher Gbare, and Prof. Hauwa’u Mohammed Mainoma of the same faculty, noted that AI was chosen as the theme for this year’s seminar due to the current digital landscape.
They advocated for the adoption of AI systems in secondary and primary schools across the state, emphasizing the benefits it could bring to students, teachers, and the education sector as a whole, saying the adoption of AI in education is a significant step towards preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century.
By integrating AI into the curriculum, students can develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
The use of AI in education can also help bridge the gap between theory and practice, providing students with real-world experiences and applications.
As the world becomes increasingly digital, it is essential for educational institutions to stay ahead of the curve and prepare students for the future.
