Kwara Church Attack Victim Recounts Ordeal in Captivity
A member of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) from Eruku, Kwara State, who was among 38 worshippers abducted during an attack on November 18, 2025, has recounted their terrifying ordeal in captivity.
The abductors made it clear from the beginning that escape was impossible due to their strong control of the area, which was a remote forest heavily monitored by the terrorists.
The survivor described the forest as dominated by the bandits, who knew all the routes surrounding the bushes in Kwara and other cities, making any escape attempt futile.
The captives were constantly guarded, causing them to live in fear and uncertainty throughout their captivity.
Global Times Nigeria reports that These 38 victims were released on November 23, 2025, after concerted efforts by security forces, with the operation personally led by President Bola Tinubu.
“It was unimaginable because when we got there, we really know that it was a dominated area,” he said. “Even they had to tell themselves that we are bandits and made us to know that there is no one that can just slip away. And with what we saw nobody could escape.
They know all the routes surrounding all those bushes within Kwara and other cities.”
A total of 38 victims were abducted from the Eruku CAC on Tuesday 18th of November and were released on Sunday November 23, 2025 amid rising kidnap rate across the nation.
