APC Acting Chairman Yansaneh Urges Unity, Discipline in Christmas Message Amid Party Election Preparations
By Yahaya Idris, Freetown
Amb. Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, Acting National Chairman of the All Peoples Congress (APC), has used the Christmas season to rally party members towards unity and disciplined preparation for upcoming internal elections.
In a heartfelt message released on Christmas Day, Yansaneh extended warm greetings to APC supporters across Sierra Leone and the Diaspora, emphasizing the values of peace, sacrifice, renewal, and hope embodied by the birth of Christ.
“This sacred season invites reflection, not only on faith and family, but also on purpose, responsibility, and the future we are collectively building,” Yansaneh stated, linking the festive period to the party’s political journey.
The message comes at a pivotal time for the APC, which has been navigating internal transitions following recent leadership changes and the publication of new party rules governing internal elections.
Yansaneh highlighted this milestone as a testament to the APC’s commitment to transparency, constitutionalism, and internal democracy, signaling a new chapter of renewed determination.
“As we enter the new year, the timely conduct of elections and the steady rollout of preparatory democratic activities are not mere formalities,” he declared.
“They are deliberate steps towards rebuilding confidence, strengthening unity, and repositioning the APC as a party ready to govern.”
The APC Acting Chairman drew on historical wisdom to underscore the party’s strategy, noting: “When justice limps after a stolen dawn, the cure is not lamentation alone, but the sunrise of victory, for only power can straighten the crooked path.
“He stressed that political justice comes through organization, discipline, and triumph at the ballot box, urging members to conquer internally before seeking national mandate.” Indeed, he who seeks justice in elections must first conquer the ballot; for authority, once won, becomes the language justice understands,” Yansaneh added, framing the APC’s focus on winning member trust as a precursor to broader electoral success.
Global Time Nigeria reports that this comes amid ongoing debates within opposition circles in Sierra Leone, where the APC continues to position itself as a viable alternative to the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
Yansaneh called on members to rise above divisions, respect party rules, and prioritize collective goals over personal ambitions as 2026 approaches.
“Let this Christmas inspire us to rise above division, to respect the rules we have collectively agreed upon, and to place the party above personal ambition,” he implored.
The message concludes with optimism: “May the spirit of Christmas strengthen our resolve, heal our differences, and renew our faith in the APC’s destiny. Together, with discipline and determination, we shall transform hope into power and power into progress and development.”
Yansaneh wished all a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year, signing off with: “God bless the APC! God bless Sierra Leone!”
Meanwhile, some political analysts view the address as a strategic move to consolidate support ahead of internal polls, potentially shaping the APC’s path in future national contests.
