Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja II, part in Kogi State, have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for second terms, while urging their state assembly speaker to seek reelection.

A statement issued by Yabagi Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, noted the endorsement came via unanimous voice vote at a stakeholder meeting Friday, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

Attendees included elected officials, ward chairmen, councilors, former leaders, and community groups.

Yusuf rallied the crowd to prioritize Tinubu and Ododo’s reelection, crediting the governor’s security investments, including tools for forest guards, hunters, traditional rulers, and a Forward Operational Base for maintaining peace in rural Lokoja II.

He said these measures thwarted threats from northern criminals spilling south through Kogi and Kwara forests, enabling farmers’ bumper harvests.”If not for the efforts of the Governor, the farmers in our various communities would not have been able to record the bumper harvest they recorded in the last harvest season,” Yusuf said.

Speaker Yusuf highlighted Ododo’s focus on rural roads, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment, including sponsoring constituents for health and education training to staff new facilities.
Federal lawmaker Hon. Danladi Suleiman Aguye and Lokoja Local Government Chairman Comrade Abdullahi Adamu also addressed the group, touting their work on jobs, infrastructure, and complementing Ododo’s security push.

Stakeholders pressed Yusuf to retain his assembly seat and backed Aguye for another term, both with overwhelming “aye” votes.

The gathering underscores APC consolidation ahead of 2027 elections in the agriculturally vital area.
