Ex-Rep Candidate Yerima Al-Basheer Joins Toto Constituents To Usher In New Year
…Lauds Maikaya Foundation’s Grassroots Impact

A former House of Representatives candidate for Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency, Honourable Mohammed Yarima Al-Basheer, also known as Baraden Apawa, on Thursday joined his constituents in Toto Local Government Area to usher in the New Year with a series of solidarity and courtesy visits.
Al-Basheer, who contested the 2023 House of Representatives election, commenced his tour in Gadabuke at the residence of a former Chairman of Toto LGA, Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, where they exchanged New Year greetings and discussed issues of community development.
He thereafter proceeded to the home of his political ally and APC Deputy Chairman of Toto LGA, Hon. Alhaji Salisu Fancy, where he met with party faithful and supporters and shared goodwill messages for a peaceful and prosperous year.
The politician also stopped over at the “Majalisan Ibrahim Naira” in Gadabuke, where he interacted with members of the group through their leader, Alhaji Ibrahim Nas-Wallo, and conveyed his New Year message of unity and progress.
Al-Basheer, who currently serves as Senior Technical Adviser (STA) to the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Hon. Tijani Aliyu Ahmed, PhD, later moved to Toto town for a strategic gathering of the “Youth for Al-Basheer” movement, with members drawn from Gadabuke, Toto and Umaisha districts.
At the meeting, the youths reaffirmed their loyalty and pledged continued support for his political aspirations and community-based initiatives.
The day’s activities climaxed at the grand finale of the 6th Maikaya Development Foundation grassroots football tournament, held at the Toto Central Football Field.
Addressing journalists at the venue, Al-Basheer commended the founder of the Maikaya Development Foundation, HE. Dr. Musa Mohammed Maikaya, for what he described as impactful and people-oriented interventions in sports and other sectors.
He said such initiatives provide a sense of belonging to youths at the grassroots and help in discovering and nurturing talents, while also promoting peace and social cohesion in the area.
The event attracted prominent personalities including HRH. Alhaji Muhammed Umar Azaki, the Ohinoyi Ogye of Toto; HE Dr. Musa Muhammed Maikaya, APC governorship aspirant; and Pharm. Baba Yahaya, Executive Chairman of Toto LGA, among other dignitaries, who joined Al-Basheer in exchanging New Year pleasantries with residents.
On his way back to Nasarawa, Al-Basheer made a brief stop at Bugar Karmo, where he joined jubilant residents at the home of Mr. Yohanna Burki.
Women and youths in their numbers turned out to receive him, pledging unwavering support and urging him not to relent in his drive for inclusive representation and development.
Stakeholders described the New Year outings as successful, noting that the meetings and interactions were fruitful and further strengthened the bond between Al-Basheer and his constituents.
