Suleiman, who shared the story on the occasion of Asuku’s birthday, described a pivotal discussion years ago when Asuku, then serving under ex-Governor Yahaya Bello, sought details on an important project.
“I was discussing something very important with Pharm. Asuku,” she recalled. “He asked how much it would cost. I said I wasn’t sure yet, and he replied, ‘Confirm the price and get back to me tomorrow.’ “Tragedy struck that very evening when Asuku’s mother, fondly called Mama, was kidnapped, plunging the family into distress. Suleiman chose silence out of empathy.
“How could I approach him now, knowing the pain he was in? I decided to let it go,” she said.

To her amazement, two days later, Asuku reached out: “How far? Have you confirmed the price?” Despite her hesitation” I didn’t want to disturb you because of what happened” he pressed on. Upon hearing the figure, he sent the alert within five minutes, generously doubling the amount.
“Dear Chief Asuku, you are more than a leader. You are an inspiration,” Suleiman wrote in her tribute.
“Your guidance, vision, and passion have made a real difference in our lives. Your leadership has shaped our path and inspired us to be our best. I am grateful for your support and the opportunities you gave me.”Marking Asuku’s special day, she added: “Chief Asuku, you occupy a very special place in my heart.
You are a nice person and deserve everything nice in this world. I wish you a birthday full of joy, love, and everything that makes you happy.
Enjoy your day to the fullest, Ogochi Ata Igala.
Her emotional statement:
Some years back, I was discussing with Pharm. Asuku (the then Chief of Staff to the former Governor of Kogi State) about something very important. He then asked me how much everything would cost, I told him I was not sure of the price yet. He said, “Confirm the price and get back to me tomorrow.”
Unfortunately, Mama (his mother) was kidnapped that same day 😢😢
How do I start telling this man about this thing now when I know he will be in pain and distress now. So I decided to just let go of it
2 days later, he chatted me and ask, how far?” Have you confirmed the price of that thing?” I said yes I have, but I didn’t want to disturb u now because of what happened. He said, “How much is it? I told him. Within 5 minutes, I saw an alert. He didn’t only give me the money, but he doubled it.
