Nasarawa Governor Sule Mourns Senator Akwashiki’s Death at 52

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Senator Godiya Akwashiki, a prominent lawmaker from Nasarawa North who died while receiving treatment in India.

Governor Abdullahi Sule has led tributes to Senator Godiya Akwashiki (SDP, Nasarawa North), describing his death at age 52 as a profound loss to his family, the Eggon nation, and the entire state.

In a personally signed statement released to the media on Friday, Sule hailed the late senator as an “accomplished public servant, courageous legislator, and devoted son of Eggon land,” whose humility and commitment to service stood out.

“He demonstrated a deep connection with the common man throughout his political journey,” the governor noted, adding that Akwashiki’s demise pains not just his family and constituents, but Nasarawa State and the Nigerian legislature as a whole.

Sule pledged to uphold the legacy of honour, leadership, and dedication to the state’s progress. “On behalf of the Government and people of Nasarawa State, I extend heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, His Royal Highness, the Aren Eggon, the Eggon Traditional Council, the National Assembly, and all who mourn this great son of our soil,” he said.
