Gumi Alleges Abuja Plot to Eliminate Him Alongside Boko Haram Terrorists

Controversial Northern cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, Sunday raised the alarm that security sources in Abuja had marked him for elimination alongside Boko Haram insurgents.

The Islamic scholar claimed he received a tip-off via an early morning phone call from an unidentified source, who revealed his name surfaced during a high-level national security meeting.

“They called me from Abuja, that there was a security meeting,” Gumi disclosed. “They said I have been marked; that I will be eliminated. And who are Boko Haram?

”According to the cleric, the caller alleged his name was listed among targets for assassination, drawing parallels to foreign interventions.“ Even American, they said they came to fight terrorists, so who are the terrorists? They are the ones,” he fumed, squarely blaming the United States for Boko Haram’s emergence.

Gumi further lambasted US President Donald Trump’s policies for exacerbating Nigeria’s insecurity and fueling divisions, while accusing leaders and clerics of complicity through silence.

“Because of lies, you brought violence, but where are the leaders, what did they do? What about the scholars? Where are they? Everyone has gone to hide in their corners,” he charged.

He warned that foreign-backed narratives were oppressing Nigerians by portraying Christians as the only victims of insecurity, insisting no sovereign nation would tolerate such divisive interference.

“Which country would agree to bring something in just to divide its people? There is no country that would accept that,” Gumi stated.

“It would say either you bring all of us together, or you hold us and hand us over to them.”

Lashing out at elites for abandoning dialogue in favour of “noise,” the cleric declared: “You brought us hardship, you broke us. You oppressed us, you denied us our rights.”

Gumi cautioned that fear, division, and inaction were dragging the nation down, urging unity to avert further crisis.
