Former Abia State Governor and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has called on Nigerians to stop holding President Bola Tinubu responsible for the nation’s insecurity, insisting that state governors bear the primary duty to protect lives and property in their domains.

Kalu made the appeal during a New Year visit to Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Ekoli Edda, Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, where he addressed journalists.

He praised Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru for effectively securing his state, citing it as a model for others, and recalled his own tenure in Abia, which he described as the safest state in the country at the time.

“Nobody was kidnapped in Aba or Abia State because I was committed to the safety of our people,” Kalu declared, contrasting Abia’s peace with the widespread insecurity then plaguing cities like Warri and Port Harcourt.

The senator dismissed expectations that the President should single-handedly resolve all security challenges, urging all governors to emulate Nwifuru by prioritizing citizen safety to curb nationwide threats.

Kalu also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, pledging to deliver Abia State for the party and back President Tinubu and APC governors.

“Abia will be APC in 2027. I will lay my heart on the field to ensure our party’s success,” he vowed.
