Kogi LGA Shuts Down 2027 Ambitions: Barr Tanko Osuku Pledges Ironclad Loyalty to Ododo

The Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barrister Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, has firmly declared that no son or daughter from Kogi Local Government Area will contest the 2027 governorship election against the incumbent, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Barr. Tanko Osuku, described the Kogi LG support for Ododo’s re-election as “non-negotiable,” positioning it as a testament to their total loyalty amid rising political realignments in Kogi State.
He made this disclosure during an advocacy visit to the palace of the Ohimegye Igu of Kotonkarfe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, led by the Okun League of Progressive Elites (OLOPE).
Earlier, the Director-General of OLOPE, Barrister Alfred Bello, explained that the group is extending its influence from Okunland to the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.
Barr. Bello stressed the need for Kogi West Senatorial District to speak with one voice, aiming for an overwhelming victory for Governor Ododo in the 2027 polls.
He highlighted OLOPE’s commitment to sustaining advocacy for Ododo’s re-election, citing the governor’s “outstanding achievements” across key sectors of the state economy.

In his response, HRM Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, the Ohimegye Igu of Kotonkarfe Kingdom, urged residents of Kogi West to unite against any obstacles threatening the district’s collective interests.
The first class monarch of Egbira people emphasized that unity was essential for the senatorial district to pursue shared goals effectively in the build-up to 2027.
Ohimegye Salihu commended the Okun League of Progressive Elites for the bold initiative of reaching out to other parts of Kogi West Senatorial District.
He described the visit as a welcome development that would further solidify the bonds of unity and togetherness in the district.
Global Times Nigeria correspondent reports that the advocacy underscores growing momentum for Governor Ododo’s second term, with stakeholders rallying to ensure Kogi West’s bloc vote remains intact.
