Citizens and critical stakeholders from Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, including prominent politicians, traditional and community leaders from all tribes, on Friday passed a vote of confidence on Governor Abdullahi Sule over his outstanding performance.

The diverse delegation, cutting across Egbira, Gade, Gbagyi, Bassa and others, paid a thank-you and solidarity visit to the governor at Government House, Lafia.

They were led by their paramount ruler and Chairman of Toto LG Traditional Council of Chiefs, HRH. Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, the Ohimegye Opanda of Umaisha

Welcoming the group, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and son of the soil, Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji (SAN), praised the visit as a testament to the unity and togetherness among Toto people, devoid of sentiments.

He highlighted the governor’s development efforts in the area and the multi-ethnic composition of attendees.

Speaking further, Toto LGA Executive Chairman, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya; member representing Toto/Gadabuke Constituency in the State Assembly, Hon. Muhammed Garba Isimbabi (speaking for Umaisha/Ugya representative); and the State Commissioner for Health, lauded Governor Sule for delivering dividends of democracy.

They cited enhanced security, restored peace and other strides, assuring him of unwavering support.

On his part, Ohimegye Opanda and Chairman Toto LG Traditional Council of chiefs, HRH. Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, said the visit was to thank the governor for standing by Toto people.

“Your Excellency, first and foremost, I want to express my happiness and joy for seeing all ethnic groups in Toto LGA here today. During our last visit, the Bassa people were not with us, but today we are all together. We thank you for the peace and unity efforts in our LGA,” he stated.

He added: “Secondly, Your Excellency, we are here to show solidarity with your government because you love our people and LGA at heart. You appointed many of our sons and daughters to key positions, brought peace and other developments we will never forget. You love us, we also love you.”

The monarch appealed: “Your Excellency, you will be leaving after eight years. Though we are not happy, it will be your time to go. Our appeal is that Governor Abdullahi Sule’s successor should come from Toto LGA.”

Responding, Governor Sule thanked the visitors for the solidarity and appreciating the restored peace, achieved with support from Ohimegye Opanda, former Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi and others.

He expressed delight at the current unity among stakeholders, which he said would drive more development.

Sule noted that Toto LG is blessed with natural resources, agricultural and economic potentials, an experienced traditional ruler and educated populace.

“Enhance your unity and togetherness for more development to thrive,” he urged.

The governor reaffirmed support for the zoning system to promote peace, unity, fairness and justice.

“I am a product of zoning, and I want zoning because it brings peace. I always said I want zoning and will love to support someone from the Western zone because it brings peace and unity. But as a citizen, I’m not saying people don’t have the right to contest from another zone,” he clarified.

The event drew prominent figures including immediate past Speaker of Nasarawa Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi; governorship aspirants Dr. Faisal Shuaibu and Musa Muhammed Maikaya; and traditional rulers from various tribes.
