Kogi Police Command Get New Spokeswoman as ASP Afusat Assumes Office

The Kogi State Police Command has announced the appointment of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Saliu Oyiza Afusat as its new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), effective immediately.

ASP Afusat, who hails from Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, takes over from CSP William Ovye Aya, who has been redeployed to another assignment.

In a statement signed by the outgoing PPRO on Monday, the Command disclosed that Police Commissioner CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, welcomed the new spokesperson, expressing confidence in her ability to effectively communicate the Command’s activities.

“CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi welcomes ASP Afusat to her new role and expresses confidence in her abilities to effectively communicate the Command’s activities and initiatives,” the statement read.

A fresh graduate from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, ASP Afusat was commissioned as ASP on September 7, 2024, after a five-year training programme where she bagged a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.

She has undergone specialised trainings, including a Virtual Assistant Certification Programme, Police Mobile Training at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills, Nasarawa State, and Leadership and Citizenship Training at Shere Hills, Jos.

Before her elevation, ASP Afusat served as Officer-in-Charge of the Gender Desk at B Division, Felele, and had earlier acted as Deputy PPRO for the Kogi Command.

The Command expressed optimism that ASP Afusat would enhance public engagement and promote the image of the Nigeria Police Force in the state.
