Nasarawa Speaker, Cleric Urge Nigerians to Amend Ways with God, Embrace Selfless Service
…As remains of NSHA deputy director’s mother committed to mother earth in Garaku amid tears
The Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), Dr. Danladi Jatau, and a cleric has tasked Nigerians to realign with God, mend their ways and commit to selfless service to humanity, as the remains of late Mrs. Saraya Danbasa Vani, mother of Mrs. Monica Labah Daniel, Deputy Director (Stores), NSHA, were committed to mother earth in Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area.
The funeral mass held at ECWA Bishara 1, Garaku, drew tears, eulogies and glowing tributes for the deceased, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Leader in Kokona LGA, whom mourners, clergymen and others described as a devoted Christian and “Mother to all” who lived a life of selfless service. Her burial immediately followed at her Garaku residence.
Delivering the sermon, Reverend Bitrus Kaya admonished Christians to unite with God, amend their ways with Him and fellow humans, love one another and serve as good societal ambassadors, stressing that death strikes without warning, regardless of one’s influence.
In his address, Dr. Jatau condoled the family, Kokona LGA and all who knew the late matriarch, describing her as a worthy example whose death was a collective loss.”First, I want to condole the family for this great loss. It is not for the family alone but for myself and the entire Kokona LGA.
Mama has been good to me and to everyone. Mama was a mother to all; we will all miss her,” he said.The Speaker noted that death is inevitable for all, urging Nigerians to emulate the deceased through selfless service, as no one knows when it will come.
Management of the NSHA, led by Deputy Clerk, Mr. Paul Okugya; Permanent Member 3, NSHA Service Commission, Isah K. Obagu; Commissioner of Education, Hon. John D.W. Manman; Chairman, Kokona LGA; and member representing Akwanga South in the State Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Chumbaya, joined other dignitaries to pay their last respects.
