Tinubu’s Protocol Officer to Disburse Scholarships to Successful Applicants January 31
By Yahaya Idris, Abuja
The Protocol Liaison Officer to President Bola Tinubu, Ambassador Yakubu Musa, has announced that scholarships for successful applicants will be disbursed on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Assembly Hall of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chairman of the scholarship scheme, Associate Professor Shuaibu Umar Abdul, the disbursement exercise is scheduled to commence at exactly 10:00am. The event underscores the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment amid ongoing economic challenges facing the nation.
Ambassador Musa, who serves as the President’s Protocol Liaison Officer in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, spearheaded the initiative as part of broader efforts to support indigent students and promote educational access.
The scholarships target successful applicants who underwent a rigorous selection process earlier in the year, drawing from various states across the North-Central region and beyond.
Prof. Abdul, in the statement, emphasized the transparency and efficiency of the process. “This disbursement marks a pivotal moment for our beneficiaries, who have demonstrated exceptional merit and need.
“We urge all successful applicants to come with valid identification and acknowledgment letters to avoid any hitches,” he said.
The choice of NSUK’s Assembly Hall as the venue highlights the partnership between the federal initiative and state institutions in Nasarawa State.
NSUK, a foremost university in Nasarawa State, has previously hosted similar government programmes, providing a secure and spacious facility for large gatherings.
Sources close to the scheme revealed that over 500 applicants were shortlisted following competitive interviews conducted in December 2025.
The scholarships, funded through presidential interventions, cover tuition and stipends for one academic year, aiming to reduce the financial burden on families grappling with inflation and rising living costs.
As Nigeria continues to navigate post-fuel subsidy removal realities, such initiatives have been hailed by education advocates as timely interventions.
Stakeholders anticipate that the event will not only disburse funds but also feature motivational speeches from government officials, inspiring recipients to excel academically and contribute to national development.
