Mahmoud urges FCT youth to embrace dialogue, shun division

Federal Capital Territory Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has urged youths in the FCT to choose dialogue, peaceful engagement and constructive participation in nation-building over division.

Speaking at the FCT Gbagyi Youth Association conference in Abuja, Dr. Mahmoud, represented by the Mandate Secretary, FCT Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Hon. Ango Suleiman Abdullahi, stressed that progress comes through collaboration, mutual respect and shared commitment to development.

The minister highlighted the conference as an opportunity to celebrate Gbagyi identity and unity while tackling challenges like access to education, skills development, employment, entrepreneurship and social inclusion.

She called for collaboration between government, traditional institutions, community leaders and youths, reaffirming the FCT Administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, human capital development and inclusive growth across the six area councils.

In another address, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Mustapha Bala Danaki, said any society investing in its youth invests in its survival and progress.

“Sustainable development is not just about infrastructure or wealth; it is about people, their mindset, character, skills and values,” he stated.

“It is about youths who are prepared not only to demand change but to become the change. It is about youth who understand that their leadership starts with self-discipline, integrity and respect for elders and institutions.
