SSA on Students’ Affairs Clears Air on Kogi Schools Shutdown

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Kogi State Governor on Students’ Affairs, Comrade Omonu Joshua, also known as Level Pumping, has dismissed fears over the recent shutdown of primary and secondary schools across the state, insisting the move was a proactive safety measure based on credible intelligence.

The clarification comes amid concerns from parents, students, and education stakeholders following the Kogi State Government’s directive for a temporary closure of schools statewide.

Speaking with the National President of the Igala Students Association, Comrade Joshua explained that the decision was not panic-driven but a responsible step to bolster security around educational institutions.
He emphasised that the closure prioritised the safety of pupils, students, teachers, and schools, adding that Governor Usman Ododo’s administration acted decisively to avert potential threats.
“The temporary shutdown was informed by timely and actionable intelligence. This government remains committed to the safety of our children, teachers, and schools. We will always put lives first while sustaining governance and education,” Comrade Joshua stated.
He praised the state government’s responsiveness, hailing it as a hallmark of proactive leadership.
Reacting, President of the Igala Students Association, Comrade Adukwu Vincent, lauded the SSA for reassuring the public and easing tensions among students.
Comrade Vincent also commended the Kogi Government for tackling security challenges head-on, especially those impacting students, and pledged the association’s backing for policies safeguarding lives and education.
