Engr. Bashir Gegu Rolls Out Free Medical Outreach for 800 Kogi Citizens, Boosts Tinubu, Ododo’s Welfare Agenda

In a heartwarming display of commitment to the welfare of his people, the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has flagged off a comprehensive free medical treatment programme targeted at no fewer than 800 indigent citizens across the state, underscoring his unwavering support for the transformative leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo.
The initiative, christened the Tinubu/Ododo Medical Outreach and executed in strategic partnership with the Diamond Foundation for the Needy, is fully sponsored by Engr. Bashir Gegu himself, reflecting his personal dedication to bridging healthcare gaps in underserved communities and complementing the renewed hope agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal and state governments.
Launched at the weekend in his hometown of Gegu Beki in Kogi Local Government Area, the programme promises a wide array of services including medical consultations, free medications, vaccinations, minor surgeries, specialist interventions, eye care tests, maternal and child healthcare, as well as health education sessions designed to empower residents with knowledge on preventive care and healthy living.
Speaking at the kick-off event, Engr. Bashir Gegu, who radiated enthusiasm amid cheers from beneficiaries and community leaders, explained that the outreach would span four key locations, Ganaja Community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Ankpa, and Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, with 200 persons targeted for treatment at each centre, ensuring broad coverage and maximum impact on the health challenges facing Kogi indigenes.
“This is my modest way of supporting the outstanding leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Ododo, who have demonstrated that true governance is centred on the wellbeing of the masses,” he declared, adding that the programme aligns seamlessly with the administration’s efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility, slash mortality rates, and foster healthier communities across the state.
Bashir Gegu seized the opportunity to rally Kogi residents and Nigerians at large behind the APC government, predicting with confidence that the stellar performance of the duo would make their re-election in 2027 a foregone conclusion, describing it as “sacrosanct” in the face of ongoing developmental strides.
The commissioner did not mince words in eulogising the foundational role played by immediate past Governor Yahaya Bello, whose visionary policies he credited for laying the groundwork for APC’s dominance in Kogi and creating an enabling environment for growth, prosperity, and seamless support for President Tinubu and Governor Ododo.
As queues of excited beneficiaries, many elderly folks, nursing mothers, and children, formed early at the Gegu Beki venue, tales of relief began to emerge, with participants expressing gratitude for timely interventions that would otherwise have been unaffordable amid rising living costs.
Engr. Gegu’s gesture comes at a time when healthcare remains a critical flashpoint in national discourse, positioning him as a frontline champion of the Tinubu/Ododo welfare blueprint and reinforcing the APC’s narrative of people-oriented governance in Kogi State.
