Ajaokuta APC Patriots Warn Gov Ododo over Hon Lawal’s Success, Accuse Rival Lawmaker of Desperation, Blackmail

Members of the APC Patriots in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State have raised the alarm in an open letter to Governor Usman Ododo, urging him to beware of “people shedding crocodile tears” and investigate what they describe as a deliberate plot by a rival lawmaker to undermine the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ajaokuta Federal Constituency through non-inclusive representation and internal sabotage.

The group, concerned party faithful, contrasts this alleged intrigue sharply with the exemplary record of Hon. Lawal, a twice-elected representative under the APC in 2015 and 2019, whom they hail as an accessible leader, a rallying point for the party, and a political sagacity whose intimidating profile and people-centric approach is fueling desperation among opponents ahead of the 2027 elections.

They warn that Hon. Lawal’s consistent support for party elections, initiatives, and funding has made him the undisputed face of APC in the area, a development that has evidently sparked fears in the camp of those who, according to the patriots, stumbled into power by accident and now resort to blackmail and divisive tactics after failing to deliver quality representation to the people of Ajaokuta Federal Constituency.

In the letter, the APC Patriots express deep concern over reports that traditional rulers in the area are facing threats from the faction and supporters of the unnamed lawmaker, calling on Governor Ododo to call him to order and protect the party’s unity, which they describe as Kogi State’s vehicle for progress and stability.

They accuse the lawmaker of engaging in confrontational politics that prioritizes personal ambitions over collective interests, alienating fellow party members through a non-inclusive approach that starkly opposes Hon. Lawal’s collaborative efforts to strengthen the APC.

“Your Excellency, beware of moles who, having discovered they have failed in providing quality representation, are now using the instrument of blackmail,” the letter states, imploring the governor to probe the matter, recognize Hon. Lawal’s contributions, and resist being misled by lies from those with nothing to show for their tenure.

The group emphasizes that Hon. Lawal’s rising profile and acceptance among the people will not be diminished by opponents’ fears or sleepless nights, advising rivals to wait patiently for any public declaration of his intentions, as he reserves the right to contest if he chooses.

The patriots conclude by placing full trust in Governor Ododo’s leadership to safeguard APC’s integrity in Ajaokuta, insisting that the lawmaker’s actions must be addressed to prevent further erosion of party unity.

Signed by Sanni Atakida Nasidi on behalf of the APC Patriots, Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, the open letter underscores Hon. Lawal’s enduring popularity and warns that his success continues to haunt those threatened by the people’s verdict.
