A renowned academic and Political Science lecturer at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, Dr. Omordi George Ugbomah, has commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as the administration’s remarkable investment in the education sector.

Dr. Ugbomah gave the commendation while addressing journalists on the sidelines of the maiden graduation ceremony of the university held in Asaba on Saturday.

Speaking during the brief press interaction, the former Commissioner for Environment in Delta State said the decision of the state government to establish additional universities had significantly expanded access to higher education for thousands of qualified students who previously struggled to secure admission due to limited spaces in existing institutions.

According to him, the successful graduation of the pioneer students from the newly established institutions is a clear demonstration of the foresight and commitment of the present administration to human capital development.

Dr. Ugbomah noted that the maiden convocation ceremony of Dennis Osadebay University marks an important milestone in the development of tertiary education in the state, adding that the initiative has created more opportunities for young people to pursue quality university education closer to their communities.

The academic, who also previously served as Commissioner for Works in the state, further commended the government for its deliberate efforts in providing infrastructure and creating a conducive learning environment across tertiary institutions.

He stressed that sustained investment in education remains one of the most effective strategies for building a knowledgeable workforce capable of driving innovation, economic growth and sustainable development.

Dr. Ugbomah also congratulated the graduating students and urged them to remain disciplined and diligent, while serving as worthy ambassadors of their alma mater and contributing meaningfully to the progress of society.
