College of Education Akwanga Matriculates 1,805 Students at 50th Matriculation Ceremony

The College of Education Akwanga on Thursday matriculated 1,805 students during its 50th Matriculation Ceremony
The ceremony was held at the Convocation Arena of the college witnessed the oath of allegiance, administered by the Registrar of the college after Deans of the various schools introduced their students to stand for the matriculation oath, formally admitting them into the institution.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Provost of the College, Dr. Nuhu Barnabas Barau Best, congratulated the newly admitted students for successfully scaling through the admission process and urged them to remain law-abiding and committed to their academic pursuits.
“We congratulate you for scaling through the admission process. In taking the oath of allegiance, you are now formally students of the College of Education, Akwanga,” he said.
The Provost noted that the students are particularly fortunate to be admitted at a significant moment in the history of the institution as it prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary alongside a forthcoming convocation ceremony.

According to him, the college will soon undergo an accreditation exercise and is also making progress toward becoming a degree-awarding institution, a development he described as a major milestone.
“You are the most fortunate set of students as the college is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary and convocation. “You are also the pioneer set that will witness the transition of the College of Education, Akwanga into a degree-awarding institution,” he stated.
Dr. Best expressed confidence that the administration of the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi A. Sule, would support the process, noting that by the next matriculation ceremony the institution hopes to admit both NCE and degree students.
He further encouraged the students to spread the message that the college is expanding beyond the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme to include degree programmes in the near future.
The Provost emphasized that hard work, diligence, thoroughness and determination remain the core values of the institution and urged the students to uphold these principles.

He also warned them to shun social vices such as drug abuse, indecent dressing and cultism, stressing that anyone found guilty of such acts would face disciplinary measures in line with the institution’s regulations.
Dr. Best also advised the students to always carry their identity cards for proper identification and encouraged them to participate in extracurricular activities such as debates, quizzes and weekend social events to enrich campus life, expressed appreciation to Governor Sule for his continued support toward the development of the college
Some of the students interviewed during the ceremony expressed excitement over their admission into the institution, describing the opportunity as a step toward achieving their academic and career goals.
