The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Nasarawa North Zone, has passed a resounding vote of confidence on Governor Abdullahi Sule, commending his inclusive leadership and selfless service to the people of Nasarawa State, particularly in the northern senatorial district.

The endorsement came during a special meeting convened at Ri-Seingon Hotel along Wamba Road in Akwanga, where leaders and officials from Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and Wamba local government areas gathered to affirm their unwavering support for the governor’s administration.

Organized by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Kwanta Yakubu, the event underscored the association’s appreciation for the governor’s transformative impact, with participants resolving to stand firmly behind him in recognition of his exceptional governance.

In a communique read shortly after the closed-door deliberations by the Northern Zonal CAN Chairman and Provost of the College of Education Akwanga, Dr. Best Nuhu Barau, the association highlighted Governor Sule’s tremendous achievements, especially the unprecedented infrastructural development across the zone.

Dr. Barau listed key projects such as the economic road constructions linking Sisimbaki-Farin Ruwa, Wamba-Nasarawa Eggon, Nakere-Andaha, Gudi-Moroa, and Nunku-Agyaga roads, alongside the asphalting of Rinze Road and township roads in Akwanga, including underpasses in Gudi, Wamba, and Nasarawa Eggon towns.

He emphasized that these initiatives, coupled with investments in human capital development, inclusiveness, unity, tolerance, and enhanced security among the state’s diverse population, fully justified their decision.

“Gov. Sule has brought unprecedented infrastructural development to Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and other local government areas,” Dr. Barau stated, adding, “With this impressive and endearing character and conduct, therefore, we have come to the conclusion that His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule is a man of great destiny worthy of our support, confidence, trust and enthronement in any leadership position he may choose to aspire to lead and serve the people as the Almighty God blesses and ordains him to do so.”

Speaking further, Commissioner Kwanta Yakubu urged religious leaders to leverage their platforms to foster unity across Nasarawa State by preaching positively about a government that embraces all citizens regardless of their differences, while affirming the church’s rightful place in governance given the governor’s proven capacity to deliver on infrastructure in the northern zone.

Other participants echoed these sentiments, expressing solidarity with Governor Sule for his commitment to good governance and urging him to sustain his efforts, while appreciating his strategic appointments of illustrious Christian leaders such as Dr. Pastor Best Nuhu Barau as Provost of COE Akwanga, Dr. Pastor Yusuf Alfa and Deacon Timothy Shammah as Executive Secretary and board member of the Christian Welfare Board respectively, and others to key positions including the Commissioner for Local Government Service Commission.

During an interactivity question-and-answer session, the commissioner fielded concerns from CAN representatives across the three local government areas, assuring them of a forthcoming high-powered meeting between Nasarawa Northern CAN and Governor Sule to deliberate on critical issues of progress and development.
