Red Cross Elects Prof. Atakpo as Delta Branch Chairman

The Delta State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society has elected new executive members to steer the affairs of the humanitarian organisation in the state.

The election took place during the branch’s 27th Annual General Meeting held on Saturday in Asaba.

At the meeting, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Delta State University, Abraka, Prof. Edmund Atakpo, emerged as the new Branch Chairman alongside other officers elected to serve in various advisory and executive capacities.

Those elected include Hon. Anthony Odhe as Vice Chairman, Chief Rose Ikpokpo as Finance and Property Adviser, Barr. Ifeoma Iloba as Legal Adviser, Richard Anigboro as Programme Planning Adviser, and Daniel Moriah as Disaster Management Adviser.
Others are Dr. Godwin Osakwe as Divisional Development Adviser, Amaechi Odili as Health and Care Adviser, Chief Vincent Omoko as Communications and Advocacy Adviser, and Friday Igba as Finance and Resource Mobilisation Adviser.

The newly elected leadership pledged to uphold the seven fundamental principles guiding the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which include humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality, in order to deliver effective and quality humanitarian services to communities across the state.

The leadership assured that the election had placed capable individuals in positions where they could effectively contribute to strengthening humanitarian interventions and expanding the society’s activities in Delta State.

In recognition of his outstanding service, the newly elected Vice Chairman, Hon. Anthony Odhe, was presented with the Delta State Branch “Vibrant Coordinator Award” for his exemplary leadership and contributions during his tenure as Isoko North Divisional Coordinator.

The society reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian service and community support, expressing optimism that the new leadership would further strengthen its operations and impact across Delta State.
