Easter: Nasarawa Speaker calls for peace, unity, Urges Nigerians to keep hope alive amid challenges

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and sustained hope for a better nation despite prevailing socio-economic and security challenges.
He made the appeal during an Easter Sunday service at Evangelical Church Winning All GoodNews, Garaku, in Kokona Local Government Area, where he stressed that national development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of instability and disunity.
Dr. Jatau emphasized the power of prayer as a vital tool in addressing the country’s insecurity, urging citizens to continually seek divine intervention.
According to him, no meaningful progress can be achieved without peace, noting that collective prayers and commitment to unity remain essential in overcoming the nation’s difficulties.
He encouraged Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or religious differences, to coexist harmoniously, describing diversity as a divine design that should strengthen rather than divide the country.
Felicitating with Christians on the 2026 Easter celebration, the Speaker urged citizens to reflect on the significance of the season, particularly the virtues of sacrifice, humility, and love demonstrated through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He described Easter as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolizing victory over sin and death, and offering hope of eternal life.
He further charged Nigerians to sustain the lessons of Lent and remain steadfast in faith, stressing the importance of keeping hope alive irrespective of present circumstances.
The Speaker also called on residents of Nasarawa State to continue supporting the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule, noting that collective cooperation is necessary for effective governance and sustainable development.
While expressing deep sympathy to the people of Udege community over recent attacks by unknown gunmen, he condemned the killings and destruction of property, describing the incident as unfortunate and unacceptable.
He prayed for justice and expressed optimism that those responsible would eventually be brought to book.
In his remarks, Dr. Jatau commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Caleb Mutfwang for their proactive measures in tackling insecurity, particularly in areas recently affected by violent attacks.
He further urged political actors and stakeholders to adhere strictly to democratic principles and rules of engagement as the 2027 general elections approach, stressing that leadership is divinely ordained and should not be pursued through rancour or conflict.
Delivering a sermon titled “The Significance of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ,” Assistant Reverend of the church, Pastor Amos Samuel, drew his teachings from the books of Luke 24:1–12 and 1 Corinthians 15:54–55.
He underscored the resurrection as a symbol of triumph over death, sickness, and all forms of adversity, assuring believers of victory through faith.
The cleric encouraged Christians to live exemplary lives, shun sinful acts, and uphold the virtues of peace, unity, love, and sacrifice in order to inherit the kingdom of God.
Pastor Samuel also offered prayers for the Speaker, other leaders, and the nation at large, seeking divine guidance, unity, and progress for Nigeria.
The Easter service featured vibrant song ministrations and worship sessions, reflecting the joy and spiritual significance of the celebration.
