Ghana Halts Planned Increase in Sachet Water Prices
The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has announced that the price of sachet water will remain unchanged, following a decision by key industry stakeholders to suspend a planned increase that was due to take effect on Monday, 6 April 2026.
In a statement issued by its Public Relations and Communication Unit, the Ministry commended the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) and the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) for their cooperation in halting the proposed adjustment. It described the move as a step toward safeguarding consumers and maintaining stability in the market.
The Ministry assured the public that consumers can continue to purchase sachet water at existing prices, easing concerns over a potential rise in the cost of a widely consumed essential commodity.
Officials also disclosed that a high-level meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, 8 April 2026, between the Ministry and the leadership of both associations. The discussions are expected to focus on addressing pressing challenges within the sector and finding sustainable solutions.

Reaffirming its commitment to market stability, the Ministry said it would continue to engage trade associations to ensure that emerging issues are resolved promptly while protecting the interests of consumers.
