ADC Elects Former Deputy Governor Abdul as Nasarawa Chairman, Nadare Emerges Secretar
The Nasarawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has elected former Deputy Governor, Chief John Michael Abdul, as its State Chairman, with Alhaji Isah Adamu Nadare emerging as State Secretary, following a peaceful consensus congress held in Lafia, the state capital.
The outcome of the exercise was announced by the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Mr. Kani Jibarang, who described the process as orderly and reflective of party unity.
Other members of the newly constituted State Executive Committee include Hon. Prince Mohammed Yamusa Chindo as Deputy Chairman; Alhaji Aminu Nagogo as Treasurer; Elmahmud Hussaini Sani as Financial Secretary; Hajiya Hafsat Ibrahim Tiyel as Women Leader; and Prince Shekwoaga Musa Maikasuwa as Youth Leader.
Also elected were Barr. Paul Magaji Ajeh as Legal Adviser; Dr. Taimako Sunday Anyuabaga as Publicity Secretary; and Hajiya Hassana Musa Maidoki as Auditor.
At the zonal level, Comrade Idris Ojoko emerged as State Vice Chairman (Zonal Chairman) for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, while Alhaji Yahaya Onyapa and Mr. Joseph Massin were elected as Zonal Chairmen for Nasarawa South and Nasarawa North Senatorial Districts, respectively.
In his acceptance speech, Abdul thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work with stakeholders to strengthen grassroots mobilization and position the party for victory in the 2027 general elections. He also assured aspirants of a fair, inclusive and transparent primary process.
Goodwill messages were delivered by prominent party leaders, including the Deputy National Chairman, Senator Patricia Akwashiki; National Vice Chairman (Diaspora), Hon. Barr. Musa Elayo; Chief of Staff to the National Chairman, Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe; and the State Chief Whip, Mr. Julius Miyanki Ogah.
They congratulated the new executives and urged them to intensify mobilization efforts ahead of future elections.
The congress attracted key stakeholders and notable gubernatorial aspirants, including Hon. Barr. Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi (CON), Major General Nuhu Angbazo, Alhaji Jibril Sabo Keana, Hon. Ayuba Umar, Alhaji Nasiru Soja Abdullahi, and Hon. Umar Shuaibu Kubi, among others.
The event ended with a renewed call for unity under the party’s slogan, “Arise and Shine Nigeria.”
