Alleged Petition: Dino Melaye Asked Security Agencies to Arrest Me Over ADC Meeting — Reps Abejide
A member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, Hon. Leke Abejide, has accused former Senator Dino Melaye of petitioning top security and electoral authorities, allegedly calling for his arrest over the convening of a party meeting.
Abejide, represents the people of Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi Stat, made the claim during an interview on Channels Television, stating that Melaye wrote separate letters to the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), questioning his authority to convene meetings of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State.
According to Abejide, “Senator Dino Melaye wrote to the IG, the DG of DSS, and the chairman of INEC, saying that I do not have the power to call any meeting of ADC. I was shocked.”
He further expressed deep dissatisfaction with the internal dynamics of the party, alleging that certain elements had joined the ADC with the intention of undermining its structure rather than strengthening it.
“I cannot work with them because they came with the idea of destroying this party, and I will not agree with that. That is why I am unwilling to work with them,” he said.
The lawmaker disclosed that he had initially welcomed the influx of new members into the ADC, noting that prior to their arrival, the party had limited national recognition.

He said he chose not to oppose their entry, believing it would enhance the party’s visibility and political relevance.
However, Abejide noted that his position changed after observing what he described as attempts by the new entrants to sideline existing members and take full control of the party’s structure in the state.
He said this development made continued collaboration untenable, deepening the internal rift within the party’s Kogi State chapter.
