INEC presents Certificate of Return to 25 Assembly members elect in Kogi.

Independent National Electoral Commission in Kogi state on Wednesday presented Certificates of Return to the 25 House of Assembly members elect.

The recipients of the Certificates of Return were declared winners by the Independent National Electoral Commission, after the keenly contested March 18 Assembly elections conducted across the 25 state constituencies.

While presenting Certificates of Return to the elected members, the Kogi state Resident Electoral Commission, Gabriel Long pet, advised them to always be in touch with their constituencies for feedbacks from both the electorate and the representative.

Long Pet recalled that several elected members to Assemblies were alleged to have abandoned their constituencies, only to re appear when seeking re election, who usually failed woefully.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, who commended the electorate in Kogi state for their peaceful disposition through out the processes that culminated to the free fair and successful conduct of the elections, equally scored security agencies high over their performances throughout the period of the election.

He re assured the people of the state and political parties and candidates that the electoral body, INEC would always be neutral in the performance of it’s constitutional duties.

The Electoral Commissioner, disclosed that the November Kogi Governorship election is by the corner as the party primaries comes up next month.

He therefore appealed to the people of Kogi state and the politicians to ensure a hitch free Governorship election.

Unlike the 8th Assembly with all members all male and belonged to the APC, the incoming 9th Assembly has 2 female members, while PDP has 2 seats and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has one
