The FCT FADAMA -CARES has organized a one day pre-disbursement capacity building training for its batch (B) beneficiaries in the territory.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the training at Gwagwalada, on Tuesday, the FCT coordinator of the FADAMA -CARES, Mr Usman Adangara, said the training is designed to build the capacities of participants in the areas of group dynamics, books/record keeping, environmental management, procurement and protect monitoring/evaluation.
He said the FCT CARES program which is being implemented using the world Bank program for results financing model is equally leveraging on the community driven approach in financing community level program investment.
According to him, the objective of the FCT FADAMA-CARES result area 2, which he said fadama is implementing is to increase food security and safe functioning of food supply.
He, therefore, appreciated the continuous support and guidance being provided by the FCT FADAMA -CARES program by the ARDS secretariat and FCT administration.
In his speech, the mandate secretary for Agriculture And Rural Development Secretariat, Lawan Kolo Geidam, represented by the permanent secretary of the ARDS, Mrs Grace Adayilo, said the FCT FADAMA -CARES had successfully disbursed grants to 7383 individual beneficiaries from 109 farmers community associations across the FCT.
She said the results were verified by the independent verification agents engaged by the world Bank during the first, second and third rounds of verification carried out in December, 2022/January, 2023 and February, 2024.
The mandate secretary, however, noted that with the current released of additional resources to FADAMA -CARES program by the FCT administration from the third reimbursement received from the world Bank, the FADAMA -CARES is expected to disburse to an additional 6020 individual beneficiaries before the commencement of the fourth round of verification by the world Bank scheduled for October 2024.
He, therefore, urged the farmers to take advantage of the opportunity afforded them by the FCT FADAMA -CARES program to further enhance their knowledge, which he said will significantly facilitate increase productivity and improvement in their livelihoods.
