….During my leadership in the assembly, I maintained a high standard of excellence at all times — Rt. Hon Balarabe
The Right Honourable Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and leader of the All Progressives Congress in Toto local government area, has expressed satisfaction with the recent unsuccessful efforts of certain individuals who wasted their time and resources attempting to undermine him ahead of the 2027 elections.
Rt. Hon. Balarabe Abdullahi, presiding as Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu’s governing council and formerly representing Umaisha/Ugya state constituency, credited God for his life’s achievements, highlighting his three-time election and swearing-in as Speaker as a testament to God’s unwavering support and guidance.
The former Speaker pointed out that his opponent, now a comedian, has not delivered any discernible benefits to the people of Umaisha/Ugya, except for his controversial engagement, notably his denial of the Bassa Kwomu militias presence, which have been perpetrating violence in Toto LG and its vicinity.
The Toto LG political leader and the Walin Opanda Kingdom disclosed that his first attempt in the house was foiled when a colleague swiftly corrected his false claim that the attackers in Toto LG were solely Bassa Kwomu militias, contradicting Sa’ad’s initial assumption that they were unknown gunmen.
In the lead-up to the 2024 election, Abdullahi Sa’ad vowed to dedicate his constituency allowance to establishing road connections between Toto LG in Nasarawa and Kogi LG in Kogi State, including street roads, but has yet to make good on these campaign promises one year later.
In recent times, Sa’ad has made untrue claims about initiating street road projects in Umaisha, and his silence on the matter is troubling his supporters, who are no longer able to comprehend his stance.
On Monday, 9th September 2024, the former speaker publicly commented after a secretive meeting arranged by Sa’ad the PDP lawmaker representing Umaisha/Ugya state constituency and a select few APC members in Toto LG, aimed at wresting control of the APC structure from him ahead of 2027 polls, which was revealed publicly on Sunday evening.
“I am pleased that Sa’ad, who falsely claimed victory in the 2023 election, is now speaking out of both sides of his mouth, stating that to defeat me in 2027, the structure under my leadership must be compromised in their favor.”
The situation amused me because it’s an feat they can’t accomplish, and this will inevitably lead to their political demise in the next election cycle. I would have kept quiet, but I wanted to correct the narrative, particularly since the same person who claimed electoral victory over me is now fearful of my broader political influence, surpassing his own and even that of his financial backers who facilitated his judicial ascension.
Balarabe declared his faith that Engineer Abdullahi Alhaji Sule will fulfill his mandate as Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and surrender the reins to his likely successor in 2027, with God’s blessing.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Toto local government area for their support and prayers, which have been a significant source of strength.
Balarabe Abdullahi affirmed that he is a man of unwavering faith and unshakeable conviction, unmovable by the schemes of others, and has come to accept the circumstances that have befallen him leading to his removal from office by the Appeal Court as being divinely ordained by God Almighty.
The Toto LG APC leader, while instructing Sa’ad on leadership and governance, dared Sa’ad to come forward and assert his claim to the PDP structure in Toto LG, if he genuinely possesses such ability.
Balarabe’s leadership of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for over eight years was characterized by a steadfast commitment to excellence, with his integrity and dedication to his constituents remaining unblemished.
The former Speaker, Balarabe, counselled Sa’ad to continue fostering a strong alliance with his financier and political leader, Arc. Mohammed Ja’afar Ibrahim, who is also contesting the 2027 governorship seat in Nasarawa State on the PDP ticket.
