Delta College of Nursing Admission Transparent, Competitive – Bureau Chief

Delta State College of Nursing Science

…Says no slots allocation, devoid of ethnic or tribal sentiments

Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has said that the just concluded entrance examination into the State College of Nursing Science was transparent and competitive.

He said admission was based on candidates performance and those who scored below cut off mark were not and cannot be admitted, assuring that the standard already attained in the admission process shall be sustained in line with the state government’s policy on qualitative education.

Dr Oghenesivbe made the clarification on Thursday in Asaba, in reaction to a misleading online publication wherein it was alleged that admission slots were allocated which was why some candidates of a particular ethnic nationality were not admitted after their participation in the entrance examination.

He disclosed that the state policy on education accords equal opportunity to all qualified persons to be admitted into all categories of schools and institutions of higher learning, devoid of ethnic and tribal sentiments.

The Bureau Chief debunked the fabricated allegation which, according to him, was deliberately crafted to cast unmerited aspersions on the state government, saying that admission slots were never allocated, and advised those who could not gain admission to work hard in preparation for another opportunity.

“Admission into Delta State College of Nursing Science was and still based on merit. Candidates who performed below cut off mark cannot be admitted, so as to sustain the standard already set by the State government for all schools and institutions of higher learning.

“Admission is not based on ethnic nationality, tribe or religion. All Deltans have equal opportunity as encapsulated in the MORE agenda of the governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori. The state government does not and will never play politics with education.

“The mischievous allegation constrained in the online application trending on social media platforms is distasteful, divisive and unpatriotic. The said publication should be disregarded, and mischief makers are strongly advised to repent, going forward.

“The state Ministry of Health and the State College of Nursing Science did an excellent job in the just concluded entrance examination and subsequent admission of successful candidates.

“It is crystal clear from available records that successful candidates worked very hard and gained admission meritoriously, devoid of tribal or ethnic sentiments” Oghenesivbe said.
