It’s time for Sen. Ede Dafinone to return home after failing Urhobo Nation – Group
….Senator given two-week ultimatum to retract Anioma State agitation or face job loss
The Senator representing the Delta Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Ede Dafinone, is facing serious backlash for his vowed agitation for the creation of Anioma State from the current Delta State and neglecting abandoning his Senatorial District
Senator Ede Dafinone is also accused of neglecting his senatorial district to pursue agitation aiming at causing division in the peaceful Delta State.
The agitation for new Anioma State is sponsored by the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Ned Nwoko.
Rejecting the move by Delta Central Senator, the Odavwe R Urhobo group has called on all Urhobo people at home and in the Diaspora to recall Senator Ede Dafinone from the National Assembly as a matter of urgency due to his failure to provide the required leadership and representation to the people of Delta Central and Urhobo Nation.
The group said it has been monitoring the political space, where some patriotic Urhobos are calling for the creation of an Urhobo State, describing the move as most welcome idea to require the support of all
According to them, their senator should be in forefront supporting the foundation of making Urhobo State out of current Delta State but rather, actively thwarting the efforts of these patriotic individuals.
In a statement issued and made available to Journalists on Wednesday indicated that the controversial Senator has granted numerous interviews to support the creation of Anioma state instead of Urhobo State Creation. This action of his is perceived as anti-Urhobo and should be rejected.
“We are giving Senator Ede Dafinone a two-week ultimatum to retract his statements made in support of Anioma state creation during those interviews, otherwise we will embark on the process of recalling him from the senate.”
Senator Ede Dafinone needs to understand that his personality alone may not be enough to win a councillor seat in Urhobo State, and that his father’s legacy and good name may be the decisive factors in his consideration for the role, rather than his own qualifications or abilities.
“We have come to realize that Ede Dafinone is no longer representing the Urhobo people’s interests but rather his own.”
