Nasarawa NYCN tours Lafia Flyover, Underpass construction site
….. Praises TRIACTA Nigeria Limited for executing the contract effectively
By Yahaya Idris, Lafia
The Nasarawa State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) expresses satisfaction with the standard and quality of work being carried out by TRIACTA Nigeria Limited on the construction of the first flyover and underpass in Lafia, the capital city, which was initiated by Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State.
In a statement released on Wednesday, by the State NYNC Chairman, Comrade Muhammed Ja’afar Loko, the council informed journalists that it had conducted a site assessment visit to assess the current level of work being done by TRIACTA, saying the visit was also motivated by the recent accident at the flyover and underpass site in Lafia, where one person died and others were injured. We have noted and confirmed that the incident was not a result of the construction company’s negligence, but an unforeseen circumstance.
The Nasarawa NYCN applauded the company for its proactive approach in preventing future occurrences and for taking responsibility for the welfare of the injured and the family of the deceased.
The council appeals for calm as the company has taken measures to ensure that no repeat of such incidents occurs in any of their sites. TRIACTA is a leading construction company in the nation and has been actively involved in construction works in different parts of the state with no record of such incidents.
The Council commiserates with the Site Manager, family, and loved ones of the deceased and injured, calling on them to accept this tragic incident as God’s divine design. We appreciate TRIACTA’s efforts in developing the state and remind them to deliver on their corporate social responsibility.
The Council deems the flyover and underpass project a well-thought-out idea that will beautify Lafia, the state capital, and facilitate the free flow of traffic, especially as the city witnesses an influx of people and investors from across Nigeria, who are attracted to its serene and accommodating environment.
“As the year comes to a close, the Council plans to embark on a local government tour. The purpose of the tour is to assess the Council’s activities for the year under review, including the performance of the Public-Traditional Security Intelligence Gathering Committee. The Council will also engage with stakeholders, especially newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen, to discuss their plans for youth development in their respective councils. Moreover, the Council will inspect ongoing projects in Local Government Areas initiated by the Nasarawa State Government.”
According to him, the Council will also launch awareness campaigns highlighting the dangers of drug abuse and reckless driving during the yuletide season to prevent avoidable accidents and protect citizens’ lives. The year’s activities will culminate in the Management Committee meeting and gala night.
NYCN Urges Youth Inclusion in Nasarawa Council Polls
Comrade Muhammed Ja’afar Loko explained that the Council intends to maintain its partnership with TRIACTA and other construction companies working in the state to ensure the execution of quality and standard projects that benefit the people. To this end, the Council wishes to commend the foresight of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for his tenacity in undertaking projects of this magnitude in Lafia and across the state. Indeed, he has proven himself to be a true and visionary engineer. We also commend him for the many other projects scattered throughout the state, including the Akwanga flyover and underpass and township roads.
