The wile of Nigerians Celebration of Assad’s Expulsion

Today, some known Nigerians are celebrating the expected expulsion of the Syrian dictator, Bashir Al-Assad, by the Free Syrian Army, FSA, and some other ragtag rebels. I am a bit taken aback because of where they stand on issues of dictatorship.

Assad stayed this long because Putin backed him, which kept the rebels from ousting him all these years. How come those who celebrate Putin’s adventures everywhere in the world including Ukraine and parts of West Africa have come around to celebrate the demise of one of his puppets?

Is Putin no longer coming to West Africa to support those military adventurists that have toppled all their democracies? Those military brass that are often celebrated in Nigeria? These sets of Nigeria, even within the elitistic caucus, were inviting the military that could be supported by Putin to come to Nigeria to take over the the democracy that was said to have been hijacked. In fact, during the End Bad Governance Protests, the flag of Russia was hoisted in parts of Nigeria by ‘minors’.

Its a pity the almighty Putin could no longer provide the needed air cover for the Assad the Arab Spring could not wave off. Putin is struggling in a more than two years war in Ukraine. How those who felt Putin was going to be the West Africa liberator from democracy and the French imperialist suddenly turned to celebrate the fall of Syria must be studied in the annals of ‘internal’ conflict resolutions.

I am personally celebrating the fall of Putin’s lackey in Syria because I know it will be a warning to those of his African footmen who think with the support of the modern day warmonger, they can remove every single democracy in the continent.
