Who is Barrister Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, a giant killer?

Barrister Muhammed Tanko Musa originates from Osuku community in Koton-Karfe South East electoral ward of Koton-Karfe/Kogi Local Government Area, born to Alhaji Musa Suleiman Osuku and Mallama Aishat Musa.

Barr Tanko attended primary school from 1975 to 1980 and obtained his first school leaving certificate in 1986.

Between 1980 and 1986, he attended GSS Koton-Karfe, earning his West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) certificate.

Following this, the legal luminary attended Bayero University Kano’s prestigious School of General Studies (SGS) between 1986 and 1987, and was admitted to the Faculty of Law at the same institution, BUK, from 1987 to 1992, where he obtained an LLB (Hons) Second Class Upper Degree.

Thereafter, he enrolled in the Nigerian Law School between 1992-1993, where he was admitted to the Nigerian Bar as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa served in Anambra State at Shollom Chambers Nnewi during his National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) from 1993-1994 and was honored with an award and certificate for his outstanding achievements

He began his legal practice at Aliu Saiki & Co Okene from 1995 – 1999, then served as Legal Adviser to the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly from 1999 – 2003.

He had also worked as a Legal Practitioner at A. O Musa & Co. Law Firm from 2003 to May 2016.

Throughout this duration, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lokoja Branch, from 2001 to 2013.

Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa has maintained a consistent presence in politics, spanning the era of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the current All Progressives Congress (APC).

Barr. Tanko also took on the role of Federal Constituency Director of Campaign for Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the representative for Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency, ultimately contributing to the victory of Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.

In recognition of his remarkable contributions, commitment, hard work, and loyalty to the cause, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, Executive Governor of Kogi State, appointed him as Administrator of Kogi LGA on 6th May, 2016, and he took the Oath of office from 9th May, 2016 – 3rd February, 2020.

Barely a month after completing his tenure as Administrator of Kogi LG, Barr. Tanko was reappointed by Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello on 9th March, 2020 as Special Adviser on Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs.

Presently, Barr. Muhammed Musa Tanko Osuku holds the position of Executive Chairman at the Kogi State Civil Service Commission and has garnered several traditional titles both within and outside his state.
