Sir Danjuma Arinbo Lawal emerges as Chairman as N24 Coalition in Nasarawa State is inaugurated
…Hosts its first conference, hails Gov. Sule for providing good governance in the State
The N24 Coalition, with its membership spanning across the 24 constituencies in the State, has also inaugurated its Interim State Executive Council, which will manage the group’s affairs pending the convention that will usher in substantive officials.
The New Chairman of the Coalition, Sir Danjuma Arinbo Lawal stated this at the
First Conference of the Coalition in Lafia today.
Sir Arinbo said the objective of the group is to sensitize, create social and political awareness on the mind of the people to know their rights to vote and whom to vote.during elections.
He stated that to achieve its objectives, the coalition would partner both International and Local organizations to sensitize the people at the grassroots to choose leaders base on competency, credibility and ability to deliver.
“For years, our people, especially those living at the grassroot have been participating in politics without knowing the right candidates to support, as such they end up voting for people, who don’t share their feeling” he said.
” The coalition is also going to intervene in the areas of education and agriculture by providing learning materials to schools and support to farmers to boost food production and enhance standard of education in the state.
” N24 is non political group and is not affiliated with any politician or political party in the state.
” The group is out to change the narrative in our political system as well as holding political office holders accountable to the people” he said.
Arinbo said that the coalition is made up of members cutting across 24 constituencies of the state.
” Members of the coalition are from various political party but have to put the interest of their parties aside and work for the common good of the state and the people.
” One of the aims of the coalition is to identify good candidates and drum peoples awareness and support on those who have the capacity to deliver good governance to the people.
” Any candidate or candidates that the group will support must write undertaking stating what to do, if voted into power.
” And failure to deliver on those promises by the candidates after winning election, the coalition will hold him or her responsible” he added.
He used the occasion to commend Governor Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in providing good governance in the state.
He said Gov.Sule has done his best in the areas of security and physical infrastructure across the Local Government Areas in the state.
He, however, called on the Governor to.do more before the expiration of his tenure in 2027.
He charged the group’s executive members to live up to expectations by carrying the message of the association to the people at the grassroots.
He called on the youths in the state to join forces with the coalition towards changing the narrative for better Nasarawa State.
It would be reported that members of the executives were drawn from all the Local Government Areas of the state.
The representatives at the LGAs are to serve as the Chairmen with power to appoint one representative from each electoral ward of the state to work in the coalition.
Members of the executives, who spoke appreciated the founders of the coalition describing it as the best idea that would promote political awareness and participation among the people, especially the rural dwellers.
They promised to work closely with the people at the grassroot towards achieving the objectives of the coalition in the state.
