Toto LGC Chairman flags off National Immunization for Polio Plus Days
…Nursing mothers and caregivers urged to immunize their babies

The Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Council, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, has officially flagged off the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPD) exercise.
Yahaya said the important public health campaign aims to protect children aged 0 to 59 months against vaccine-preventable diseases in the area
The Chairman urged all nursing mothers and caregivers in the community to bring their babies and young children for vaccination during this period. He emphasized the critical role immunization plays in safeguarding children’s health and preventing outbreaks of diseases within the community.
The Toto LG Executive Chairman represented by his Deputy, Hon Atnadu Sunday Yakubu performed the ceremony on Friday 28th, June, 2025 and also issued a stern warning to anyone attempting to hinder or violate the immunization exercise.
He assured that the local government is committed to enforcing strict measures against such actions to ensure the success of the campaign and the well-being of the children.
According to the Chairman, “this campaign is a collective effort to build a healthier future for our children.”
Global Times Nigeria reports that the National Immunization Plus Days exercise is a nationwide initiative designed to boost routine immunization coverage and deliver additional vaccines to children. It is a vital step towards improving child health outcomes and reducing child mortality rates in Nigeria.
He expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support received from relevant stakeholders, which contributed to the success of the previous exercise.
He reaffirmed the local government council’s commitment to providing services to the people.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the Health Secretary of Toto Local Government Council, Hajia Zainab Ohikwo, commended the leadership style of Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, describing it as purposeful and people-oriented.
According to her, the department receives adequate support, and the masses are cooperating with their programs.
She urged everyone to participate in the immunization exercise.
Also speaking during the flag-off program, the State Technical Facilitator, Mr. Chukuma Emuma, applauded the people of Toto Local Government Area for the hitch-free exercise recorded in the last immunization exercise and appealed for the same gesture commencing tomorrow, 28/6/2025.
Our correspondent reports that the program’s highlights included speeches and an official flag-off by the Deputy Chairman, accompanied by special gifts to the vaccinated babies. The exercise took place at Kofa Toto Town.
