NYAN Speaker Announces End of Tenure, Sets Up Convention Committee

Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Muhammed Lawa aka l.M (Dubagari Jr.), the third Speaker of the Northern Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN), has officially announced the conclusion of his tenure, revealing his commitment to constitutional term limits.

In a statement, I.M Lawal issued on Friday, 1st August 2025, he emphasized adherence to the NYAN constitution and the importance of not exceeding the prescribed period of service as Speaker.

Speaker Lawal who is also the Personal Assistant on Student Matters to Nasarawa State Governor reflected on his period in office, acknowledging both the challenges encountered and the Assembly’s steadfast focus on amplifying the voices of Northern youth.

In preparation for a seamless transition, and in consultation with the NYAN Board of Trustees, Speaker Lawak has approved the formation of a committee responsible for organizing the upcoming National Northern Youth Assembly Elective Convention and a National Summit on Peace and Security.

The appointed committee members are:

1. Daniel Sunday Lawee – Chairman
2.Bappa Hassan – Vice Chairman
3.Auwal Gidado – Secretary
4. Yunusa Yusuf Baduku – PRO.
5. Evelyn Elisha – Treasurer.

Speaker Lawal charged the newly appointed committee members to uphold integrity, honesty, and reverence for God in their service.

They are responsible for organizing the elective convention within a three-month timeframe, working closely with the current NYAN leadership.

The appointments take effect immediately. Speaker Lawal ended the notice with a stern caution, stating that any dishonesty, misrepresentation of NYAN’s values, or misconduct will lead to termination from the committee.
