Warri Wolves Secure First Away Win, Delta Sports Boss Praises Oborevwori’s Support

Newly promoted Warri Wolves Football Club secured their first away win of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Sunday by defeating Katsina United 1-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

The only goal of the match was scored by forward Igbunu Evwierhurhoma in the 76th minute, earning the Seasiders a hard-fought victory.

Following the victory, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, praised both the players and the coaching staff for their resilience and determination in securing the important three points away from home.

He attributed the breakthrough to the unwavering support of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whose administration has continued to invest in sports development across Delta State.

“This victory is a testament to the governor’s commitment to sports and the determination of our boys. Warri Wolves are back in the topflight to compete, and this result shows they mean business,” Oborevwori said.

The triumph marks an important milestone for the club, which only recently returned to the NPFL after gaining promotion.

Warri Wolves will next host Enugu Rangers in a home fixture scheduled for August 31 at the Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro, where fans are expected to turn out in large numbers to cheer the team.
