Delcom 2025 to focus on artificial intelligence, strategic communication for effective leadership – Bureau Chief

As part of efforts to enhance the skills and efficiency of government media managers, partners and online news practitioners in the state, the Delta State Government under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to host the 6th edition of the Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop (DELCOM 2025).
State Coordinator of DELCOM and Director General of Delta State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe in a statement on Sunday, said the workshop, scheduled for a three-day period, will sharpen participants communication and media management skills, so as to effectively project the achievements of the state government and the governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
The Bureau Chief disclosed that the Theme of the workshop titled: “Strategic Communication in the Digital Age: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Digital Tools for Effective Leadership” highlights the importance of strategic communication in the digital age and the need for effective leadership in leveraging artificial intelligence and digital tools to drive good governance and development in line with the Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration.
According to the State Bureau, the workshop will take place at Hotel Benizia Asaba, from Monday 6th to Wednesday 8th October 2025, beginning from 9am to 5pm daily, adding that all arrangements have been concluded for the three-day brainstorming and professional skills development exercise.
Dr Oghenesivbe, assured that Participants will benefit from interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises designed to equip them with the necessary skills to excel in their roles, and specific official responsibilities in the areas of corporate communication and public information dissemination for the attainment of goals.
He disclosed that the Chief Trainer, Professor Joyce Ogwezi, Head of Department of Mass Communication at Dennis Osadebay University Asaba, will supervise the entire workshop, and to also take participants through modules on Strategic communication, its models, crafting skills and deployment for effective leadership and governance.
According to Oghenesivbe, Professor Presley Obukoadata, a Professor of Brand, Strategic and Metacommunication, and Head of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising at Delta State University Abraka, will take participants through special modules on building a strong leadership brand, crafting a compelling leadership narratives, managing propaganda, disinformation, misinformation and reputational risk management, among others.
He said, a renowned Artificial Intelligence Specialist, Strategic Communication Consultant and Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Dr Monday Ashibogwu, will do justice to AI and digital tools revolution, AI-driven content creation for leaders, using AI tools for content generation and curation, AI-powered Insights for leadership decision-making and leveraging AI for data analysis and sentiment tracking for effective leadership and governance, et al.
“The DELCOM 2025 workshop is designed to equip media appointees and partners with the necessary skills to effectively project the achievements of the state government and drive development,” Oghenesivbe said.
