The Edo State chapter of the Southern Nigeria Youth Congress (SNYC) has sworn in its newly elected executive members, who will oversee the affairs of young people in the state for a two-year tenure.

Under the leadership of Hon. Comr. Lisa Ebuwa Ohangbon and four other members, the new Edo State SNYC leadership has pledged to provide visionary leadership, ensuring that youths across the state benefit from its programs and policies.

The newly inaugurated officials of the SNYC include Chairman: Comr. Lisa Ebuwa Ohangbon, Vice Chairman: Ebhidaghe Emmanuel, Secretary General: Comr. Yerimaj Joseph, Director of Welfare: Comr. Nasiru Victor Aneyei, and Financial Secretary: Walter Success Osatohanmwen.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held on November 24, 2025, Comr. Ebuwa Ohangbon expressed gratitude to the youths of Edo State for supporting the emergence of the current leadership structure of the SNYC, assuring them of a new dawn in the organization.

Ohangbon also acknowledged the support of the National Secretariat of SNYC, for sending a representative, COMR. AGBAJIE SAMUEL ESHI, to witness the historic and successful inauguration of Edo State chapter leadership.

She emphasized that the new SNYC leadership under her stewardship is committed to introducing novel concepts and a revitalized vision to transform the organization’s narrative.

She emphasized promoting peace, unity, and the cultural heritage of Edo State, alongside actively encouraging youth participation in politics. Ebuwa Ohangbon highlighted that this inauguration marks not just the start of new executives, but the birth of a new chapter for the group, a unique opportunity to define their own legacy fueled by energy, passion, and purpose.

The event themed “Ignite, Inspire, Lead” represents a commitment to: Ignite the inner fire by fostering environments that welcome ideas, curiosity, and learning from failure. Inspire members by celebrating small wins and showcasing talent throughout the group.

She assured that the new SNYC leadership will Lead with purpose by balancing listening and speaking, guiding humbly and confidently.

She pledged a tenure grounded in transparency, collaboration, and decisive action, promising initiatives that matter, mentorship for future leaders, and partnerships with both organised and unorganised youth organizations for real impact in Edo State.

She used the medium to appeal to Edo youths and members to contribute passionately and collaboratively, emphasizing that their combined diverse voices will foster the best solutions.

She explained that her message was to spark inspiration, lead courageously, and elevate the youth group together.

Our correspondent report that the Southern Nigeria Youth Congress (SNYC) is the leading youth organization representing young people across the 17 states of Southern Nigeria, covering the South-East, South-South, and South-West regions.

It is a registered and recognized youth consultative union dedicated to bridging cultural, ethnic, and political gaps among various ethnic groups in Southern Nigeria and providing a strong platform for the voices of Southern Nigerian youths to be heard.

The idea for the SNYC was conceived in 2014 by Amb. Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole, and the organization was formally inaugurated in 2016, with successive leaderships maintaining its mission.

SNYC has been actively involved in youth empowerment and regional advocacy, including launching skills empowerment projects.

The organization continues to engage with youth development programs and regional political and social issues to unify and mobilize young people across Southern Nigeria.
