Nasarawa Speaker Felicitates with Muslims, Christians on Ramadan, Lent, Urges Prayers for Leaders, Nation
The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Muslims for witnessing another blessed month of Ramadan and successfully ushering in the 2026 fasting season, while equally identifying with the Christian community on the commencement of this year’s Lenten period, which signals the start of the traditional 40-day fast.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna, Dr. Jatau described the rare alignment of the Ramadan fast and Lent beginning on the same day as far beyond mere coincidence, but rather a profound divine blessing for the citizens of Nasarawa State and the nation at large, underscoring the special and highly significant nature of this period for both Muslim and Christian faithful, and calling on all to express profound gratitude to God for the opportunity to partake in these holy observances.
Dr. Jatau urged residents to foster greater unity and mutual identification among themselves during this sacred time and beyond, emphasizing the imperative for sober reflection aimed at the overall betterment of society, while enjoining both Muslims and Christians to intensify fervent prayers for leaders at all levels to succeed in their duties, and to specifically intercede for the state and the country to surmount emerging challenges.
He also appealed to well-to-do individuals across the state to extend support to the less privileged during this period, enabling them to observe their fasts with ease and dignity, and reiterated his congratulations to the entire Muslim and Christian communities in Nasarawa and beyond, wishing them a successful 2026 Ramadan and Lenten season filled with abundant blessings and spiritual rewards.
