Ombugadu’s Political U-Turn: APC or PDP?

By Moses Yusuf

There’s growing speculation that Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu is set to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), just weeks after defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sources close to the matter reveal that Ombugadu’s decision to join the APC was to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration.

According to insiders, Ombugadu’s camp has alleged that he’s been denied access to the APC e-registration portal, a move seen as a bid to stifle his gubernatorial ambitions.

The APC has allegedly locked him out, allegedly due to his massive grassroots support, which some bigwigs in the party see as a threat.

This development has led to concerns among PDP stakeholders, who are now pushing for Ombugadu’s return to the party.

In a swift reaction, PDP leaders in Nasarawa State, led by Hon. Mathew Akwe, convened an emergency meeting to persuade Ombugadu to return to the PDP and run for governor.

Many believe his return would be a significant blow to the APC, given his impressive performance in the 2023 elections

Some analysts predict that if Ombugadu returns to the PDP, the party’s chances of winning the governorship seat could increase substantially

The development has sparked intense speculation about APC’s internal dynamics and whether Ombugadu’s exit could trigger more defections.

Nasarawa citizens are watching closely, aware that Ombugadu’s decision could sway the state’s political landscape. With the gubernatorial election looming, the stakes are high, and time will tell if Ombugadu’s return to PDP will reshape the race.

The big question on everyone’s mind is: will Ombugadu return to the PDP or stick with the APC? Only time will tell.
