From Josephine Abah, Lokoja
An aspirant for Lokoja I Constituency seat in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Engineer Shehu Amorley, has assured the people of his commitment to delivering quality representation that will positively impact their lives if elected into office.
Amorley made the pledge during the formal presentation to ward executives of All Progressives Congress, APC, party stakeholders, and a large crowd of supporters in Lokoja Local Government Area.
The event, which attracted a mammoth gathering, served as a platform for the aspirant to outline his vision and reaffirm his readiness to serve the constituency with dedication and integrity.
Reflecting on his background, the aspirant noted that his upbringing in Lokoja played a significant role in shaping his ambition to give back to society.
According to him, his journey from childhood to prominence has instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility towards the people and the community that nurtured him.
Amorley recalled his earlier foray into politics, revealing that his interest in public service dates back over a decade when he contested for the chairmanship position of the local government council.
He stressed that his sustained passion for leadership and development has continued to drive his aspiration to represent Lokoja I at the state legislature.
The engineer-turned-politician further stated that his professional background would be a major asset in governance, assuring constituents that he would leverage his expertise to initiate projects and policies that would transform the constituency to an enviable standard.
Speaking on the role of politics in societal development, Amorley dismissed the notion that politics is inherently negative.
He described it as an essential aspect of everyday life, emphasizing that it provides the platform needed to effect meaningful change and improve the welfare of the people.
He added that holding public office would enable him to expand the scope of his contributions beyond personal capacity and deliver broader developmental impact.
On his policy priorities, the aspirant identified education and security as key areas of focus. He described Lokoja as a “sleeping giant” with immense potential, stressing that the right leadership is needed to unlock its opportunities and position it among leading local government areas in the state.
Amorley also disclosed that his consultations across the constituency have been met with widespread support and enthusiasm.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the ruling party and urged the electorate to remain steadfast in their support at both the state and national levels to ensure continued access to the dividends of democracy.
In his remarks, a member of the campaign team, Mr. Sodique Abdulrahman, described Amorley as a dependable and experienced politician with a strong understanding of the unique challenges facing Lokoja I Constituency.
He expressed confidence in the aspirant’s ability to deliver effective representation if elected.
Similarly, a youth leader, Mr. Gbenga Emmanuel, commended Amorley’s growing popularity, describing him as a widely accepted and marketable candidate, particularly among young people who see him as a symbol of hope and progressive leadership.
