Izeze Counters Omo-Agege’s Aide, Lists N80bn Projects in Ndokwa, Ukwuani

The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has refuted claims by an aide to former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, alleging that the state government has not executed any meaningful projects in Ndokwa and Ukwuani areas.

The aide, Comrade Chuks Erhire, in a viral video, had challenged residents of Ndokwa West, Ndokwa East and Ukwuani Local Government Areas to identify any significant project undertaken by the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, claiming that despite over N2 trillion in allocations, no notable development had been recorded.

In a statement issued early Saturday, Izeze described the claims as “false, misleading and inciting,” accusing Erhire of resorting to misinformation in a bid to promote his principal.

“I have no quarrel with efforts to market one’s principal, but when such advocacy descends into outright falsehood and incitement, it becomes necessary to set the record straight,” he said.

The commissioner dismissed the allegation that the state had not invested up to N500 million in any project across Ndokwa Nation, insisting that ongoing infrastructure projects in the area run into tens of billions of naira.

He listed 16 major road and infrastructure projects currently being handled by the Ministry of Works, including the construction of the Aboh–Akarai Road with a bridge across the Okira River in Ndokwa East, valued at N29.8 billion, and the reconstruction of the Emu Ebendo–Iyasele–Ashaka Road spanning Ndokwa West and East at a cost of N8.5 billion.

Other projects, according to him, include the Inam-Abbi Access Road and Eweshi Road, each valued at N5 billion; the Amai–Aragba Road project at N6.5 billion; and the access road to the Kwale Free Trade Zone estimated at N6 billion.

He added that several road rehabilitation and erosion control projects are also ongoing across the three local government areas.

Izeze stated that the cumulative value of the projects under the Highways and Urban Roads Department alone is approximately N80 billion, noting that additional interventions are being executed by other government agencies.

“These projects are limited to the Department of Highways and Urban Roads of the Ministry of Works. Other agencies such as DESOPADEC, as well as the Ministries of Health and Education and the Rural Roads Department, are also delivering projects across Ndokwa and Ukwuani communities,” he said.

Maintaining that visible development across the region speaks for itself, the commissioner urged the public to disregard what he described as misleading narratives and rely on verifiable facts regarding the state government’s performance.
