NYCN, Nasarawa Youth Groups Call for Peace Ahead of APC Governorship Primary
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State Chapter, alongside the Coalition of Youth Groups in the state, has called on stakeholders and youths to ensure a peaceful conduct during the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election scheduled for Thursday.
In a statement signed by Jaafar Muhammad Loko, the groups commended the peaceful atmosphere that characterised previous APC primary elections in the state and urged party members, especially youths, to sustain the spirit of unity and harmony.
Loko appealed to supporters and political actors to shun violence, hate speech, and any act capable of disrupting peace and stability in Nasarawa State.
According to him, the interest of the state should take precedence over individual political ambitions, stressing that all aspirants and their supporters must conduct themselves responsibly throughout the electoral process.
“We implore everyone to shun all forms of violence and divisive acts. The peace and stability of Nasarawa State must be paramount and placed above any individual interest or political ambition,” the statement read.
The youth leader further urged security agencies and other relevant authorities to remain vigilant and proactive in maintaining law and order before, during, and after the exercise to ensure a credible and hitch-free primary election.
The groups also commended Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Nasarawa APC leadership under Aliyu Bello for what they described as exemplary leadership and commitment to peaceful, transparent, and credible party primaries.
They noted that the conduct of the primaries so far had demonstrated democratic maturity and political stability in the state.
The NYCN and the coalition reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace and urged all stakeholders to work collectively towards a successful governorship primary election in Nasarawa State.

As the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial primary election in Nasarawa State is slated to hold today, Thursday, March 21, 2026, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State Chapter, and the Coalition of Youth Groups in Nasarawa State, under the leadership of Comrade Jaafar Muhammad Loko, wish to address the youth and all stakeholders in the state.
We commend the peaceful conduct observed in the primary elections held so far and urge all participants, especially the vibrant youth of Nasarawa State, particularly those of APC extraction, to uphold this spirit of peace and unity. We implore everyone to shun all forms of violence and divisive acts. The peace and stability of Nasarawa State must be paramount and placed above any individual interest or political ambition.
We call upon all citizens of Nasarawa State, including the esteemed aspirants, to conduct themselves in an orderly and decorous manner throughout the electoral process. It is crucial that no individual or group instigates their supporters to cause unrest or engage in any activity that could disrupt the harmony of our beloved state.We believe in a process driven by mutual respect, fairness, and adherence to democratic principles.
