Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has congratulated Ambassador Rafiu Olusola Enikanolaiye on his swearing-in as Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists, Senator Karimi described the appointment as well-deserved and a fitting recognition of Ambassador Enikanolaiye’s decades of distinguished service to the nation. He noted that the veteran diplomat’s career has been marked by professionalism, integrity, diligence, and an outstanding commitment to national development.

According to the senator, Ambassador Enikanolaiye, an illustrious son of Yagba Land in Kogi State, rose through the ranks of Nigeria’s diplomatic service to attain the position of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He added that the new minister’s extensive experience includes strategic diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.

Senator Karimi further noted that Ambassador Enikanolaiye’s previous service as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations has adequately prepared him for the responsibilities of his new office.

“This appointment is a source of immense pride for Yagba Land, Kogi State, and indeed the entire nation,” Senator Karimi stated. “I am confident that Ambassador Enikanolaiye will bring his vast experience, diplomatic expertise, and exceptional professionalism to bear in advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and strengthening our bilateral and multilateral relations across the world.”

The lawmaker also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for finding Ambassador Enikanolaiye worthy of the appointment. He described the President’s decision as a reflection of his commitment to competence, merit, and excellence in public service.

Senator Karimi said the appointment underscores the value of experience and dedication in national service, adding that Ambassador Enikanolaiye possesses the qualities required to make meaningful contributions to Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements at a critical time in the nation’s history.

While wishing the minister a successful and impactful tenure, Senator Karimi prayed for divine wisdom, sound health, and God’s guidance as he undertakes the important responsibility of representing Nigeria’s interests on the global stage.
